Internet Marketing Is A Labor Of Love

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

What does it take to make a living online?

In my humble opinion if you want really want to make a living online you will have to dig deep into your soul, persevere for weeks, months and years building  a solid foundation offering something real or special. Not some gimmicky sales course.

It’s a labor of love and if you don’t believe that, you’ll probally never make it.

Getting traffic is fairly straightforward and easy to accomplish and I have written many articles pertaining to how to get traffic to your site but turning traffic into sells is another story that escapes most online entrepreneurs.

Over the years the only thing I have found worth doing, is doing what I love to do.

If you are good at something and you have a passion for what you do then you will hang in to completion.  The sad fact is most people quit perfectly good ideas far to soon.  They are not passionate about their idea and all they want is the instant bucks and when that doesn’t happen they throw in the towel.

I have had many unsuccessful internet adventures over the years.  Eventually I settled down and continued to honor my gifts and talents. It all came down to this simple advice.

Do what you love and the money will follow — chase money and it will run you around in circles.

Get rich quick is possible, for the lucky few…but it is very rare.  For the rest of us you will have to find your niche, earn it one day at a time and never give up.

Does Google Avoid Your Website?

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

If you have found it near impossible to get Google to notice your website, you’re not alone.

These days it takes a lot to impress Google.

Content is king and you will score high with Google if you frequently add article based content to your site, and especially if you add it to your blog.

So here’s a tip…

If you have a website with no traffic then you must do this one thing to drasticly increase your SEO.  Attach a blog to your web site URL  (example – http://yoursite.com/blog) and start submitting content to it every three or four days.  Be sure to put a link to your new blog on your web site homepage so that people and Google can easily find it.

You should also submit a site map of your website and blog to Google Webmaster Tools.   Here’s a link to a Free Sitemap Generator that I like to use.

Forget keywords!!!  I know I have taught keyword logic in the past but the game has changed and Google could care less about keywords.  I still use a few tags but for the most part I don’t put much effort into it now days.

If you’re paying attention to your traffic stats these days you will see that Google only goes after random sentence strings.  If your stuffing your site with keywords you will soon find you have no traffic and your site will be banned by the Google search engines completely.

8 Good Reasons To Sell Software

Sample Software I Sell

I’ve held back for a very long time writing about selling software. I guess I wanted to protect my secrete.  I notice most Internet Marketers miss out on this rare opportunity.  I’m quite surprised because unlike Google AdSense where you’re lucky to make a dollar a month, my average commission selling Software is well over $25 per sale.

So here’s 8 good reasons to sell Software.

  1. It’s super easy to get started.  Spend five minutes signing up and you have over 7000 products to sell.
  2. You are provided with easy to use links that you can add to your website or blog and free ready made sites that are super simple to add your products and logo too.  See my store.
  3. I really don’t work very hard at this and could be doing a lot  better if I only had more time and applied myself more.  I review a product or two a month and post about it. It’s super simple and the efforts that I do put into it sends many qualified leads to my store every month.
  4. No investment required.  Almost every product comes with a free trial.  This is great for you because you can review your products for free before recommending them to your readers and great for your readers because they can try out the product before spending their hard earned money.
  5. Affiliate links are hard coded and guaranteed to be the real McCoy.  This means you always get paid.  I have big doubts about this with ClickBank products.  I sent over 600 click trough’s a month to them for several months and mysteriously never got a sale. Perhaps I got hacked.  Just not sure.
  6. Most software products pay a 50 to 70 % commission.  This is as good as it gets.
  7. These are top of the line software products with good reputations and what people are already searching for in the first place.
  8. Your job is super simple – Give your readers what they already want and are looking for…a real recommendation that saves them time and money. What could be easier!

So if you would like to significantly improve your bottom line then I would suggest you give RegNow a serious look.

Learn More About Blogging And SEO

Knowledge Is Power

In order to suceed in business you need to educate yourself.  Putting some Google AdSense on your blog is not going to cut it.

You need to learn the best ways to stand out and set yourself above your competition.

Here are a few resources to help get you started. I love this kind of stuff.  Some guy spends hundreds of hours writing a course and gives you years of their knowledge for only a few dollars. What a deal.

I don’t have a magic get rich course to offer you.  It doesn’t exist.  I usually learn one or two really helpful things in each course I buy so I’m glad to pay the few dollars for the information and not expect more than that.

Learn as much as you can and never stop learning if you want to make money and win at the Internet Marketing game!!!

Zero To Page One Google Ranking On A Niche Topic In Less Than 60 Days

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Whew, Webit Geek starting hitting top Google Ranking in less than 60 days on several of its niche topics. Thanks to everyone for reading, tweeting and joining my community. We can all do this together!

webit-geek-cover-page1151

So what is Webit Geek anyway?

Basically Webit Geek is a model blog that you can follow and I’m showing you how I built it right in front of your own eyes on video. From the beginning Webit Geek walks you through exactly how I set everything up and exactly what tools I used to get the job done.

You of course will pick your own unique theme, content and style as you follow the video lessons.

I created Webit Geek for two reasons.

  1. To help share with people how to set up the tech side of things, which many folks find kind of frustrating. learn more
  2. To prove that a simple blog set up correctly and with good content is the best SEO you will ever need.

I show you how to click on my banner ads to get the tool you need, and yes,  if you do click and buy then I get paid, but the truth is, these are the merchants I use and…

The banner ads on my site are all hand picked and not just any merchant but rather the one’s I have done business with or have thoroughly checked out. I’ve spent many years collecting this knowledge for you. Google AdSense is the only exception to that.

I’m aware that a Google ad may drag a visitor or two away from your site but you will get way more visitors in the long run than you lose and you will receive a higher ranking score from Google when you let them advertise on your site.

Webit Stats

Here is what’s happened so far at Webit Geek:

  • Site Launched March 30-31, 2009
  • April 2009 – 245 unique visitors.
  • May 2009 – 657 unique visitors.
  • As of Today – June 10, 2009 – 533 unique visitors.
  • That equals a 70 day grand total of 1440 total unique visitors and nearly 50,000 pages viewed.
  • It’s likely we will see 2500 or more total unique visitors by the end of our first 90 days.
  • Webit Geek hit page one and several page two Google rankings on a few tough to rank niche topics.

Here Are Two Examples

Page One Google for "web it geek"

Ranked Page One Google for "Web it Geek" Out Of 176 Million Search Results

Ranked Page One Google for "Add Favicon To Blog Video" Out Of

Ranked Page One Google for "How To Add A Favicon Video" Out Of 3 Million Search Results

It’s a good start and as I’ve said before, these are not rock star results, just a good solid foundation from which to build on from here.  You can follow the Webit Geek Lessons and achieve similar results too. Be sure to stay tuned because now that our foundation is built we will continue to learn and improve in order to web-it better, faster and smarter.

Remember, most rock star results usually come from those clever marketers who pay, lie or steal to build false fast start results and then sell a get rich quick course leaving you wondering why it never works.

I recently received a refund on a $77 dollar course just like it that spent most of the ad talking about how it wasn’t just another PPC course (lie) then basically all the course taught was that once you find the PPC keywords that are winners you simply RAMP IT UP at Google AdSense to increase your profits. NO DUH. LOL.

If you could use a little help on your next Web-IT adventure then I welcome you to join our Live RSS Feed so you’ll never miss a thing. Be sure to leave a comment to let me know what you think or if you have success to share. All the best!

Happy Web-it
